The program is free for youth who reside in the City of Alexandria (Alexandria in Fairfax County territory does not count). For non-residents, there is no cost for the gym directly but the Charles Houston Recreation Center requires a three month pass for $80 to participate. This fee is paid directly to the recreation center. In addition, we also recommend a tax deductible $20 donation to the boxing gym per quarter your child participates in services at the gym. We are a volunteer only organization and have limited funding. Your donation goes a long way to support our gym's ability to help students compete in boxing tournaments and pay for equipment.

Adult group classes are $20 per class. Currently they can be purchased in packs of 11 for $200 (one class free).

Private coaching is available at $80 per hour and can be arranged and paid directly with the Coaches.

Our youth program serves individuals 8-17.

No experience is necessary to join! Students are roughly grouped by age and experience.

We have some heavily worn community gloves available but ideally boxing gloves and hand wraps should be individually purchased. We recommend at least two sets of hand wraps. Each boxer must also be dressed in athletic attire and tennis shoes/sneakers (no boots, crocs, flip flops, etc.)

Boxing glove sizes are measured in ounces and are typically based on weight, as opposed to age.

Below is a breakdown of recommended glove sizes for training gloves:

• Under 70 lbs: 4 oz

• 70-90 lbs: 4-6 oz

• 70-100 lbs: 8-10 oz

• 100lbs and up: 12- 16 oz

Most adults need 12-16 ounce gloves for general training and sparring, with lighter options (8-10oz) for faster work and heavier options (16oz+) for heavier individuals or more protection is needed.

Gloves should fit well, be comfortable and secure, and have enough padding to prevent hand and wrist injuries upon impact with a punching bag.
